Tourism

Creating memorable experiences

Whether it be an activity, a photographic moment, a physical challenge or a wellness retreat, we understand that today’s visitors want to take home memorable experiences.

Our approach to tourism projects is always tailored to our clients’ needs and the site context. While this is unique for every site, it’s always multi-layered and solution focused to identify how we can elevate the experience of a place within our projects.

We understand how the tourism sector operates, from regional networks to the design of site-specific facilities with all their management challenges.

Tourism projects create unique and sustainable activities and environments; places and landscapes that provide memorable visitor experiences and add to the quality of life in urban, regional or remote destinations.

Some of our tourism projects establish new destinations based on a vision for a unique experience or offering, while others focus on managing and curating experiences at existing tourism destinations.

Collaboration and Country

Our strategy is always based on developing the right team and approach tailored for each individual project.

Every project has a unique context, client needs and place-specific challenges. Consultation and communication are essential aspects of every tourism project. We treat engagement as a crucial component that we resolve during the project establishment phase. With our in-house Media and communications teams, we ensure excellence in service for all project needs.

With an established network of consultant partners specialising in tourism planning, financial analysis and a full range of environmental, cultural heritage and design skills, we ensure adept handling of diverse project needs. We are experienced with First Nations engagement practices, allowing us to respectfully collaborate with Indigenous communities, ensuring their voices and perspectives are integrated at every stage of the project.

Aligned with the principles of our Reconciliation Action Plan, we are committed to meaningful engagement with Traditional Owners and recognition of cultural heritage values when designing on Country.

These projects require precise methodologies and a considered, nuanced approach to ensure outcomes that connect experiencing nature with the community’s understanding of environmental values, and the investment in their protection.

Our team members continue to increase their understanding of the world’s oldest continuous culture. They have participated in Cultural Sensitivity and Awareness training as well as Acknowledgement of Country training. Tourism provides rich opportunities to celebrate our cultural heritage and support Indigenous enterprises in a direct and enduring way.

Innovative legacy

Our nature-based tourism projects are highly regarded and have set industry benchmarks for managing change in landscapes with environmental and cultural significance.

These are not easy projects with simple design solutions. They bring with them long histories of community use and attachment. Many are subject to high levels of competing use and environmental change as well as a range of First Nations values.

Some of our most renowned and enduring projects are the urban waterfront redevelopment we have designed and delivered. Cairns Esplanade, Bowen Foreshore, St Kilda Foreshore, Manly Interchange, Barangaroo Park and Headland Park are among Tract’s award-winning tourism projects.

We have a wide range of projects, from national and state parks to foreshore redevelopment, wineries, resorts, city-based hotels and museums, regional parks, heritage sites, ski resorts and nature-based tourism facilities. Our projects are benchmarked against contemporary best practices, and consistently reflect the best qualities of the places and communities they represent.

While each project has its own unique identity, a common thread among them is the creation of vibrant public spaces with unique, place specific identities.
